Happy new year! Can you believe it? It’s 2018! Part of me feels like 2017 was so short, but then again the longest!
I really think it is important to reflect on your life and remind yourself of the accomplishments and learning experiences. It’s really easy to forget all the good and focus on the negative. I encourage each of you to make a list of the amazing things 2017 brought you. It may have been a better year than you remember! 🙂
My 2016 ended with a new house, which kicked off my 2017 in a fun new place! I ran my FIRST (And quite possibly only!) half marathon! And ya’ll I RAN it. I signed up to run/walk, but the competitive side of me sort of wouldn’t shut up!
We upgraded our HGTV skills and unleashed my inner Fixer Upper by shiplapping a wall. We learned the beauty of pressure washing, took out old built-ins, installed door knobs and many a light fixture.
I took my first flight! Holy crap! I got ON an airplane and did not lose my mind (Or my cookies! Yay!)
We sold the property we purchased to build our “dream” home on. We discovered we had a lot more dreams we wanted to live than a house. (I’ll dive into this more in a later blog post!) We began simplifying our life from meal prepping and standardizing our morning routines. (Hello, 5:30 a.m.! I see you! And you are NOT that hard anymore, well OK some mornings you still very clearly SUCK, but I ❤ you, those cartoons and the quality time I get to spend with my husband and our three dogs to start my day off right!)
I turned THIRTY, 3-0! Do I even have to say anything else about that? Ha! I think this picture sums it up:
We led TWO more Financial Peace University classes and I still can’t believe we are so blessed to get to do that twice a year!
We ended 2017 on top of the world! I mean literally at 14,000 plus elevation in beautiful Colorado. What. A. Dream. Not to mention getting to experience all of it with my kid sister in tow! How fun!
I can’t imagine a better way for us to end 2017, the husband and I both have dreams of packing up the doggos and living in the middle of the Rockies. Just being there set my motivation on fire! It was exactly what we needed to mentally prepare for 2018 and ensure our focus and goals are on point.
Our whole life is one big adventure and I’m not even kidding when I say that. We get told we are crazy on the regular and maybe we are, but one thing I do know is that I love it and I can’t wait to see what 2018 holds for us. It’s going to be a good one, I just know it!
I guess I left out one biggie from 2017, I launched this blog. While I am definitely still finding my voice and working to get into a better swing of things, I am so excited to have this platform and to share my adventures in budgeting, our continued journey to financial peace and just life in general.
So, here’s to 2018! May your year be filled with love, life, friends and family!
Tomorrow starts my newest shenanigans. I’m a less-about-resolutions and more-about-solutions type girl. 🙂 This year has no idea what I have in store for it! #thisis2018
